Hazle passed away peacefully on August 5, 2000 at Riverview Health Centre with his wife, family and friends at his side. Born in London, England on September 7, 1903 and arrived in Canada in August of 1914 to Davyroyd, Sask. where he farmed for over 60 years. He served from 1940-45 with the South Saskatchewan Regiment, returning to farming in Saskatchewan. He retired in 1974 to Winnipeg. Ray is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Violet; three step children and their spouses, Jack and Pat Hicks of Winnipeg, Man., Clark and Ivy Hicks of Lac Du Bonnet, Man. and Gail and Jack McKay of Dundurn, Sask., seven grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Art Hazle and Syd Hazle, both of Calgary, Alta. and sisters-in-law, Daisy Crawford of Gilbert Plains, Man. and Mary Hazle of Courtney, B.C. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, father, three brothers and two sisters. The family gives special thanks to Riverview Health Centre, West 3 for the loving care given to Ray. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 10 at 10:00 a.m. in the Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway with Rev. Theresa Moyse officiating. Interment will follow at Garry Memorial Park Cemetery, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donation may be sent to Riverview Health Centre, 1 Morley Ave. or Harrow United Church Memorial Fund, 955 Mulvey Ave. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
