Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVERONICA CIELEN (nee SCHAN) Peacefully on August 5, 2000, Veronica went home to be with her Lord. She will be lovingly remembered by daughter Joyce; son Lorne (Gail) and grandson Trevor. Also left to remember are her sisters, Josephine (Bill) Neil, Magdalene (Paul) Handkamer; sister-in-law Elsie Schan; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family members. Veronica was predeceased by her husband Joe (1972) parents John and Josephine and brothers, Roy and Otto. Born in Pachesdorf, Austria in 1912, the family immigrated to Canada in 1921, first settling in Morden, then moving to Winnipeg. Veronica or "Auntie Funny" as she was so endearingly referred to had a gentle and caring nature touching the lives of all that knew her. She was a gracious lady, a loyal friend and loving mother and grandmother. Family and home were the most important things in her life and one of her greatest pastimes was her garden and her flowers. The family would like to thank the staff of the Health Sciences Centre, Home Care and express their deepest appreciation to Dr. Vandemyde for their care and compassion given to their mother. Prayers will be said on Wednesday, August 9, at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 10, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Josephs Roman Catholic Church, Mountain and Andrews, with Father Dado officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, we ask that a donation to a charity of your choice be made in her memory. Rest in peace, Mom. We all love you. Forever you shall be in our hearts. Cropo Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements, 586-8044.
