Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHAZEL PHILPOTT (nee PICTON) 1916 - 2000 Passed away suddenly, Saturday evening August 5, 2000 at the St. Boniface Hospital. Hazel was born on a dairy farm just east of Calgary, Alberta to parents Charles and Ruth Picton. She is survived by her devoted husband Guy; daughter Denise (Ron) Dreysko; granddaughter Kim Cote; elder sister Vera Fallis; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, plus great-great-nieces and nephews. Hazel was fortunate enough to locate her parents relations in England several years ago and has communicated with them regularly since that time. Hazel was predeceased by her infant brother; younger sister Rose and husband Rollie Detonnancourt; sister-in-law Violet Heron; niece Collette Blanchette; brother-in-law Wes Fallis; both her parents and her in-laws. Hazel and Guy met at a Saturday night square dance in Calgary and were married on February 15, 1936. Guys career moved them to Edmonton, AB, Fort St. John, BC, North Battleford, SK, and finally to Winnipeg in 1945. Mother was an extremely busy person, working at The Bay for approximately 25 years. Her later years with The Hudson Bay Company were spent as a supervisor in the credit office. While working full-time, she also spent many hours sewing till the wee hours, knitting and gardening. In 1969 Mother and Dad purchased a wonderful cottage at Nutimik Lake which remains in the family. She was able to continue cultivating her love of gardening at this location. Hazel and Guy enjoyed 27 years of retirement together, travelling extensively to Hawaii in winters and many other corners of the world such as the United Kingdom, Europe, Australia, Mexico, and the Canary Islands in the spring and fall. In latter years they wintered in Las Vegas. Mother suffered from many maladies over the last few years but still tried to maintain as normal a lifestyle as possible. The family would like to thank Dr. Eva Smil for her kind and patient treatment over the years. We would also like to thank special friends Vivian Stunden and her recently deceased husband, Bill for all their kindnesses and considerations. They have truly always "been there". Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 11 at 2:00 p.m. in Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Hwy. #1 East at Navin Road, with viewing at 1:45 p.m. Interment will follow in Green Acres Memorial Gardens. Reception will follow in the Heritage Room at Green Acres. Flowers are sincerely and graciously declined. Please consider a charity of your choice. GREEN ACRES FUNERAL CHAPEL 222-3241
