Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM EARL BLANKENSHIP Suddenly August 7, 2000, William (Bill) Earl Blankenship Jr. was taken away to a better place. He leaves behind to mourn his wife of 52 years, Pauline, his daughter Lynn Spiece and son-in-law Dr. Larry Spiece, sister Delores (Tyke) Jane Cairns, niece, nephews and many friends. Bill was born April 8, 1924 in Roanoke, VA. After his formal education he served as a Petty Officer in the Royal Canadian Navy in World War Two. Upon receiving an honourable discharge, Bill played football for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, worked in his familys business, and held an accounting position with the provincial government until 1957, when he took a position with the Employment Standards Branch, that he held for 36 years. In 1961 he joined the Khartum Temple Drum and Bugle Corps and was an active member, holding a variety of positions in the unit. He enjoyed spending his winters in Florida and summers at Brereton Lake. Among the various service clubs, Bill was a member of the White Ensign. His optimistic look on life, ready smile, and willingness to help anyone at anytime will be sorrily missed by all who truly knew him. He lived life to the fullest and made you laugh away your troubles. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 11 at 11:00 a.m. in Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2H8 or a charity of your choice. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
