JIM GREGG Suddenly after a short illness Jim Gregg passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 74. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Lil and brother Jack. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife and sweetheart of 52 years, Win; his son Tye (Edie Slater) daughters Penny (Dave) Murray, and Kathy (Ron) Vermette; grandchildren Jeff and Jonathan Slater, Tanis and Sara Murray. He is also survived by his sister Peggy (Swen) Bowman, sisters-in-law Pauline White and Madge (Stan) Wick; brother-in-law Jim (Gerry) Walker, Great Aunt Madge Walker and numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was born in Winnipeg. He traveled to Ireland by ship at the age of 4. He was schooled in both Ireland and England. Jim and Win met at the age of 9. During the Second World War he served with the military. Jim worked with CNR for 46 years as a pipefitter with only one sick day. To family and neighbours he was known as "Mr. Fix-it", no job was too small for Jim. He was quick witted and could keep everyone laughing. Jim had a love for birds, squirrels and nature. He especially enjoyed watching them in the backyard with his dog Misty. He was lovingly and affectionately known to his grandchildren as "Gramps". "We will always love you and miss you Dad". The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 15 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd., (across from the Royal Canadian Mint) with The Rev. Bill Oaklay officiating. Interment will take place in the Garden of Devotion at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will follow at St. Bartholomews Anglican Church, 881 Autumnwood. In lieu of flowers, remembrances of Jim may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 102-310 Broadway, Winnipeg, Man., R3C 0S6.
