Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryOLIVE VICTORIA COLBERT (KENNEDY) November 16, 1917 - August 9, 2000 On August 9, 2000, Oliver Victoria Colbert, after a short illness passed away peacefully, with her family by her side. She is survived by her only brother Gordon (Smitty) (Vi) Kennedy of Winnipeg, MB. She is also survived by her three children, Jim (Stella) of West Hawk Lake, MB, her only daughter Marlene of Winnipeg and her youngest son Gordie (Judy) of Prince George, BC. She also leaves to mourn her grandchildren, Sonia (Rudy), their children, Dennie (Mike) Alex, Rosiland of Winnipeg, Rick (Lani) Jordyn of Surrey, BC and her youngest great-granddaughters, Rudi and Courtney of Winnipeg, MB, Tom (Leslie) of Winnipeg, Darcy (Tammy) of Prince George, BC, Camille (Sid) of Kailua, Hawaii, and Candice (Gilles) of Edmonton, AB; plus several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband (Charles) Orin Colbert (1977) her father Thomas Kennedy (1963) her sister Merle Watt (1970) and her mother Eva Borland Kennedy (1988). Olive was born and raised in Isabella, MB. She got her education there and later moved to Neepawa, MB to start her nurses training. She then moved to Winnipeg to finish her nurses training and later to raise her family. Olive received her LPN in 1950. Olive and her husband Orin were co-founders of the Glenlawn C.C. Olive was also hired as one of the first LPNs on the new palliative care unit at the St. Boniface Hospital when it opened up 25 years ago. She later retired from the nursing field in 1985. In her last few weeks of life Olive had the love, care and support of her family and few close friends. In particular, Dennis and Joyce Zilkie who were there for her and her family in their moment of sadness. Special thanks is given to these two special people for all their love and support during this time. The family would also like to extend their thanks to the nurses on the 3rd floor of the Concordia Hospital for their support to the family as well. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 12 at 2:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (across from the Royal Canadian Mint). Interment Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the Glen Lawn Reception Centre.
