MARY NAHIRNY It is with profound sorrow we announce the sudden passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother on Thursday, August 10, 2000 at the age of 74 at the Concordia Hospital. Mary was predeceased by her parents and brother Paul Hochkievich in 1999. She is survived by her loving husband Steve of 54 years; daughter Joan (Alfred) two grandchildren, Jason and Alicia; sister Mildred (Babe) Burke; sisters-in-law, Gladys Hochkievich, Mary (John) Chizick, Ann McDougall and brother-in-law Peter Nahirny as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mary worshipped her two grandchildren very much and was a kind and generous person who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone. She enjoyed cooking and knitting and when she was able, gardening very much. Prayers will be said on Sunday, August 13 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, August 14 at 10:30 a.m. in the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church, Gonor, MB, with Father Harry Oliynek officiating. Interment to follow in the Parish Cemetery. Her active pallbearers will be Gary Chizick, Kurt Scholtz, Jason Gerlach, Alfred Gerlach, Joe Dubowits and Jamie Bacon. Honorary pallbearers will be Peter Nahirny, John Chizick and Sarah Bacon. Special thank you to Dr. Karen Braun and the doctors and nurses in ICU at Concordia General Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of ones choice. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, in care of arrangements.
