Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHARRY GRULKEY Suddenly, August 6, 2000 at his home in Calgary, Alberta. Harry was born on the family farm at Chatfield, Man. on August 6, 1915 to Rudolph and Amelia Grulkey. He was predeceased by his parents; brother Emil; sister Sophie (Sanker) and niece Victorine (Moyer). He is survived by his sisters, Wanda (Glanfield), Ida (Wilde) and Elsa (Rose) all of Winnipeg and six nieces and nephews. Harry graduated from Daniel McIntyre Collegiate Institute in Winnipeg. In 1938 he joined the R.C.A.F. and at the start of the Second World War was assigned to the R.A.F. in England as a pilot instructor. Harry served several tours of duty, his final tour with Bomber Command. In 1944 his aircraft was shot down over Germany and he was interred in a Prisoner of War Camp until the end of the war. After the war Harry joined Transport Canada as an Air Traffic Controller and Meteorologist at Dorval, Quebec rising to the level of Shift Supervisor. In 1971 Harry accepted a transfer to Calgary, where he continued in air traffic control until his retirement. In his retirement Harry enjoyed skiing and treks into the back roads of the Rocky mountains and visitations with his niece Margaret and grand-niece Cory in Kelowna, B.C.
