Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryARTHUR ERNEST (ART) FRIESEN Peacefully on Thursday, August 10, 2000 at the Carman Memorial Hospital in Carman, Man., Arthur Ernest (Art) Friesen, aged 85 years, beloved husband of the late Elsie Friesen of Carman, formerly of Starbuck. Dad was predeceased by his loving wife Elsie in 1987. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Leona (Richard) Shlanda, Ruth and fiance (Randy Krahn) son Ken (Joyce) Friesen; granddaughters; Jennifer and April Shlanda; and grandsons, Michael, Jonathan, and Bradley Friesen. Dad was born in Wymark, Sask. where he attended school and helped his parents on the farm. In 1936 the family moved to Starbuck. He was called into the military service in 1942 and was discharged in 1945. In 1948 Dad married Elsie Toews from Brunkild, Man. They settled on their own farmland west of Starbuck. Dad farmed through good times and bad times until 1977. When the farm was sold in 1978 a new home was built in Carman where Art and Elsie greatly enjoyed their retirement. Dad also spent many years as a school bus driver in Starbuck and Carman, which he enjoyed greatly. Dad enjoyed travelling with Mom during his retirement. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Special thanks to the Home Care workers at Parkview Manor in Carman for their loving care during Dads illness. Funeral service will be held from the Carman Mennonite Church in Carman, on Sunday, August 13 at 3:30 p.m., with Jake Pauls officiating. Interment will take place in the Starbuck Cemetery on Sunday, August 13 at 2:00 p.m. A public viewing will be held on Saturday, August 12 at Doyles Funeral Chapel in Carman from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Carman Handi Van Memorial Fund, Box 128, Carman, MB R0G 0J0.
