ELMA BORKOWSKY REMPEL (TOEWS) Peacefully on August 11, 2000 at Steinbach Bethesda Hospital, our beloved mother, grandmother and sister passed away at the age of 88. Elma will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her children, Gerald, Ryan (Yvonne), Melvin (Phyllis) grandchildren, Matthew, Tara (Garnet), Marisa, Leslie; great-grandchildren, Jesse and Michael; sisters, Mary Penner, Elvina (Dave) Loewen, Rose (Clarence) Reimer, the many relatives in the Toews and Rempel families and her many friends. Elma was born in Steinbach on July 12, 1912 and was raised on her parents family farm in Clearspring, where she attended Clearspring school. Elma spent many years working as a clerk at various stores in Steinbach. Elma was a beautiful person and made many friends during her life. Elma married Orlando Rempel in 1941. They spent many years entertaining family and friends. Elma enjoyed gardening and had beautiful flower gardens. Elma was predeceased by her husband Orlando in 1982; her brother John; sisters, Minna, Elizabeth, Anne and Romelda. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 16 at 2:00 p.m. at the Steinbach United Church. Interment will follow in the Steinbach Memorial Cemetery. Viewing will be held on Tuesday August 15 between 7:00 and 8:00 p.m. at Loewen Funeral Chapel. Arrangements entrusted to Loewen Funeral Chapel of Steinbach, 204-326-1351.
