MADELINE (LENA) WLASICHUK It is with great regret our mother passed away on August 11, 2000, at the Health Science Centre at the age of 85 years. Lena was born in Rhein, Sask., in 1915 to Fred and Paraska Klewchuk. She leaves to mourn her beloved husband Steve of 70 years; two sons, Stan (Sonia), Len (Janine) two daughters, Mildred (Gary) Tolton of Saskatoon, Elsie (Merrill) Heinz of Philadelphia; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Lena loved her church and was a member of Ukrainian Womens Association, Lesia Ukrainka Branch for 25 years and served on different committees at Holy Trinity Church. She was an elder for 11 years. She loved cooking and did many dinners at the church. She loved to bake kolachi and her favourite hobby was making korovai for weddings, anniversaries and baptisms. Lena loved her flowers and garden, and it was in full bloom all summer. A special "thank-you" to Dr. Johnson and staff at the Cancer Clinic. Prayers will be held on Monday, August 14, at 7:00 p.m. at the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, 1175 Main St. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 15, at 9:30 a.m., also at the cathedral with Rev. Fr. Henry Lakusta officiating. Interment will follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Honorary Pallbearers will be Lenas friends and family. Active Pallbearers will be Fraser Markham, Trevor Markham, Jordan Tolton, George Wlasichuk, Orest Palmar and Terry Carmichael. Flowers gratefully declined, if friends so desire donations may by made in Lenas memory to CancerCare Manitoba, 100 Olivia St., Winnipeg, Man., R3E 9Z9.
