Rons Mum Ethel Jeffery and his brothers, Sonny (Berta), Lincoln and his sisters, Donna (Jim) Riding, Brenda (Les) Balan and Penny (Jim) Jackson will hold these memories close. Many nieces and nephews scattered between BC and Manitoba share private thoughts and remembrances of Uncle Ron. Thoughts of Ron join memories of those who passed on before: Mick Jeffery (Dad) brothers, Bob and Arnold. Ron Jeffery was born in Stonewall, Man., but his life took him to the West and back. During Rons teenage years the family moved to Port Alberni where Ron met Shirley in 1952 and started their family. In the fall of 1964, Ron and his family of five returned to Woodlands, Man. where the family became six. Woodlands was home for the rest of his life. Ron left members of his family at his bedside, others there in spirit and thought when he peacefully passed at 4:15 a.m. on Saturday after a tragic car accident on Highway 8. Music and horses shared Rons heart with his love for the family. Throughout his life, music has been part of his soul. Ron played harmonica, a bit of piano, banjo and was working on playing saxophone. Effie and the Leftovers were the playing crew to many spontaneous dances and sing-a-longs at Oak Park Lodge and the Legion. Horses were his passion. Family remembrances to back to Rons early years with stories of breaking and moving horses. But when Ron and his family returned to Manitoba his love for the horses became his pastime. With the familys support Ron became a highly respected horseman throughout Manitoba. He worked with 50 inch ponies racing Chuckwagons, Chariots and Ben Hurs. When his health slowed him down, Bob Bernie and Ron spent weekends and evenings working with heavy horses getting ready for horse-driving competitions. After winning their share of prizes they then turned to horse pulls with Ron driving. Always a character of note from teen years as the dancer, to centre stage at every horse pull along the circuit, Ron always left much to remember. In 1998 Ron and members of the Manitoba Horse Pull Association raised funds dressed as female "hookers". The money was donated to Rons favourite charity, The Childrens Wish Foundation. Rons life of 66 years leaves all these memories for us. Speaking for many of Rons family and friends this piece is included: If you get there before I do Dont give up on me Ill meet you when my chores are through But I dont know how long Ill be Im not going to let you down Just you wait and see So between now and then Until I see you again Ill be loving you. Love Me. Viewing will be held 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. August 15 at MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall Man. Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 16 at MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall, Man.
