Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES MALCOLM STEWART Peacefully on August 13, 2000 at Roblin District Health Centre, James Malcolm Stewart, beloved husband, father and grandfather, died at the age of 86 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Isobel; sons, Norman, Neil and Anna; and grandson Scott, all of Roblin, MB. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Mary Stewart of Winnipeg, and Mary Raven of Canoe, BC; nephew Jim and Maryann Stewart of Petersfield, MB; nieces, Joyce and Lorne Wagner of Harrison Hot Springs, BC, and Faye and Gary Krebbs of Salmon Arm, BC. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Donald and Isobel Stewart; and his brother Hector Stewart. Jim was born June 24, 1914 in the Sunny Slope District near Roblin. He attended Makaroff and Sunny Slope Schools and began farming at an early age. Jim welcomed and sought new technologies and new methods and encouraged others to do the same. Jim was united in marriage to Isobel Reid on December 30, 1942. He had a strong commitment to community life. His dedication and leadership to organizations such as United Grain Growers, Sunny Slope School District, the United Church of Canada, Mountview Cemetery, Roblin Auction Mart, the R.M. of Shell River and the Manitoba Health Organizations. Jim was a lifetime member of the Liberal Party in Manitoba and Canada. He was a loyal and active brother of the Roblin Masonic Lodge and proudly received his 50-year jewel. Undoubtedly, his personal pride was in taking leading roles in the creation of the Roblin Hospital and later the Roblin Health Centre and Crocus Court Personal Care Home. New was his passion. The Winnipeg Free Press and CBC Television news were a necessity in his daily life. He absorbed the Roblin Review and could recall from his vast memory local and world events while discussing current events. Jim was afflicted with Multiple Sclerosis for 24 years. Stoically, he bore his handicap. He was thankful for the help of his family and dedicated home care workers who assisted him to remain living at home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 16 at 2:00 p.m. at Knox United Church, Roblin, with interment to follow at Roblin District Cemetery. Memorial donations in memory of Mr. Stewart may be made to either Roblin Handi-Van Fund in care of Box 940, Roblin, MB R0L 1P0, or The Muscular Dystrophy Association of Canada, 117 - 383 Provencher Blvd., Winnipeg, MB R2H 0G9.
