SOPHIE TACKNYK Sophie Tacknyk passed away peacefully in Winnipeg, Manitoba on August 13, 2000. She was born in the Ukraine in 1911. She was predeceased by her husband Tony and her daughter Mary. Sophie is survived by her daughter Rose, her husband Cliff and granddaughter Nicole Firlotte. Also surviving are cousins Mike and Marion Washnuk of Winnipeg, Mary Horn of Redditt, Ont. and Pauline Michaluk of Kenora, Ont., and special friends, Julius and Ethel Misurka and Anne DAmour. Sophie came to Canada at the age of 18, residing in Redditt, Ont. with family. She married in 1932 and resided in Kenora until she retired from her employment at Pinecrest Home. She belonged to the St. Nicholas Church for many years until she moved to Winnipeg to be with her family in 1978 to the present. Prayers will take place at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons Street on Wednesday, August 16 at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be held at St. Nicholas Church, 4th S. North in Kenora at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 17 after which interment will be in the Ukrainian Cemetery.
