Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWALTER (WALLY) ALBERT KORPAN Peacefully and surrounded by the family he loved, Wally Korpan passed away on Friday, August 11, 2000 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Wally is survived by his beloved wife Goldie, his wife of 49 years; his two daughters, Denise (David Koss) and Wanda (Fred Seeley) grandchildren, Vance, Shane and Lisa; brother Michael (Lil) and sisters, Anne (Walter), Mary, Jean, Clara and Betty (Steve). He was predeceased by his parents Anthony and Pearl and his sisters, Lena (Ozzie) and Kay (Andy). Born in Davidson, Sask., he moved with his family to a farm near Dauphin, Man. He went to high school at St. Josephs College in Yorkton. In 1946, he started with the Canadian Bank of Commerce in Dauphin. His career with CIBC spanned 40 years and included moves to Cudworth, Naicam, Meota, Humboldt, Estevan, Willow Bunch, Ashern, Dominion City, Flin Flon and Brandon. As a branch manager, he developed special relationships with many of his customers and formed long-lasting friendships with many bank colleagues. After retirement, Wally started a new career as Executive Director of Lions Manor until 1994. He devoted much of his life to community service. In Dominion City, he was instrumental in the building of the Franklin Manor Seniors Citizens Home. He was a founding member of the Ashern One Box Sharptail Hunt and remained active with the Past Shooters Association for over 25 years. He was the first Exalted Ruler of the Ashern Elks Lodge and Chair of the Board that built Pioneer Manor. In Flin Flon, Wally joined the Rotary Club and the hospital board. During his 20 years with the Wheat City Lions, he was director during the development and construction of Lions Manor from 1982 - 1987. He coordinated many fund-raising events and was a reliable worker at bingos. Throughout his life, Wally was constantly helping others. He was quick to clear the snow from the neighbours driveways or mow their lawns at the lake. His love of people showed in the camaraderie of his hunting buddies and the easy way he made friends in all his travels. Dads greatest pride was his family. He has filled our lives with wonderful memories of summers at Sandy Lake and traditional holiday gatherings. He was a man who celebrated life. He will remain in our hearts forever. Memorial service will be held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel, Brandon on Wednesday, August 16 at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Rainerio Sarce of St. Augustines Roman Catholic Church officiating.
