Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMAXIMA MANDAC It is with our deepest regret and sorrow we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Surrounded by her loving family, Maxima Mandac passed away peacefully at the Grace Hospital on August 13, 2000. Maxima will be sadly missed by her daughters, Julie Mandac Esteban, Lily (Joe) Gabriel; grandchildren, Alice (Dave) Swedberg, Sharyn Gabriel; great-grandchildren, Colin and Casey Swedberg; sister Clotilde Dumbrique of Hawaii and brother Ireneo Ancheta of the Philippines. Maxima was born in the Philippines on February 16, 1920. She immigrated to Canada in 1968, where she resided in Central Butte, Sask. Soon after, she moved to Winnipeg with her daughter Julie. She also made California her second residence with daughter Lily. Maxima was a very loving and compassionate Christian. She was devoted to her spiritual beliefs which kept her strong and gave her more courage. She loved to spend time with her great-grandchildren who knew her as Lola. Maxima was a party goer and loved to socialize. She especially loved to play cards with her friends and go to the casino! Her other passion was planting vegetables, giving us an abundance of green beans year round. She was also a green thumb in the house, keeping our plants thriving. Her "Sampagita" flower also added a wonderful fragrance. "Theyre still blooming Lola." She was known as "Mama" to most of her friends, but "Lola" to her great-grandchildren. She touched everyone with "Great Love." We love you and will greatly miss you. Thank you for allowing us to love you unconditionally. GOD SAW YOU GETTING WEARY God saw you getting weary, and a cure was not to be. He knew that you were suffering, So He wrapped you in His loving arms, And He closed your weary eyes. He did what He thought was best, He came and stood beside you, And whispered "Come and rest, peace be thine." You suffered much in silence, Your spirit did not bend, You faced your pain with courage, Until the very end. You tried so hard to stay with us, Your fight was all in vain, God took you in His loving arms And saved you from much more pain. Our hearts still ache with sadness, And secret tears will flow, For what it meant to lose you, No one will ever know. Peace be yours dear Mom Its sweet to breathe your name, As in life we loved you, So in death we do the same. Someday, we know not when, We will meet you again. Lamay will be held at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., on Thursday, August 17. Visitation and prayers will commence from 7:00 p.m. to midnight. Funeral services will be held at St. Edward the Confessor, 818 Arlington St., at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 18, with cremation to follow. A reception at the Chapel Lawn Reception Centre will follow the service. Our family would like to express our sincerest and special thanks to the Palliative Care Staff at Grace Hospital for their loving and caring support.
