Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDAVID ROBERTSON Passed away quietly at Victoria General Hospital on August 10, 2000. His passing is mourned by his three children, JoAnn (McCabe), Heather (Westdal) and Robert, all their spouses Alf McCabe, John Westdal and Terry Juzak; his sisters-in-law, Elsie Sanders and Kay Robertson; his nieces and nephews, Brian Sanders, Charlotte Rendall, Diana Slemko, David Robertson and James Watson; his grandchildren, grandnieces and nephews and his great-grandchildren. Dad was born in the town of Tillicoultry, Scotland on September 6, 1907. His family immigrated to Canada and settled in Winnipeg in 1920. He worked for a time for Eatons in Winnipeg and then moved to Regina to work for radio station CHWC. Returning to Winnipeg in 1930, he provided live hockey broadcasts and his singing talents even took him to the stage of the old Walker Theatre... a theatre he would later manage as a cinema. Dad worked in theatre management with Famous Players and Odeon-Morton from 1936 until his retirement in 1977. His companion for 70 years, Pearl, our loving mother, passed away only two months ago. This compounded loss is deeply felt by the family and friends he leaves behind. He was a family man, a loving and supportive father and a wonderful storyteller. We love him and celebrate his life. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 18 at 11:00 a.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 232 Kennedy St., with Rev. Brian Rountree officiating.
