PAUL STEINKE Peacefully on August 16, 2000, Paul passed away in his home at the age of 72. Paul was predeceased by his parents Elsa and Herman Steinke of Thalberg, MB and brothers, Bill and Bennie Steinke. He will be sadly missed by his wife Carol of 45 years; two children Kevin (Chris) and Della; four grandchildren, Corbin, Cody, Dustin and Kaylin; two sisters, Eleanor Boon and Irene Wittmier; three brothers, Lawrence (Irene), Ervine (Bonnie) and Kenny, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours. Paul was born on March 11, 1928 in Thalberg, MB, where he was raised and lived until moving to Winnipeg. At the age of 17, Paul started driving a country bus, during which time he met his future wife Carol and later married in 1955. They raised two children Kevin and Della. Paul then drove bus for Winnipeg Transit until 1981. Due to his ill health he then retired in 1986. All the while still farming his land in Thalberg, MB. Paul has enjoyed the latter years of his life starting with the birth of two grandsons (one from each of his children) in a matter of three days. Later on to his joy came a third grandson and finally a granddaughter. Paul loved to be outside gardening, doing yardwork and always lending a helping hand to his neighbours and friends. A service in celebration of Pauls life will be held on Monday, August 21, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St., with viewing one half hour prior to the service. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the Glen Eden Reception Centre. Cremation will take place after funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pauls name to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
