ALBERT (AL) CHISHOLM HARVEY With great sorrow, we announce the sudden death on Tuesday, August 15, 2000 of Albert (Al) Chisholm Harvey, MBChB (Edinburgh), MRCP (Edinburgh), FRCP (Canada). He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Carol, son Alan, daughter Stephanie, son-in-law Tony, and granddaughter Eva. He will be sorely missed by his brother Alasdair and family of Inverness, Scotland, his many cousins, nieces and nephews, family and friends. Born in Whitehills, Banffshire, Scotland on August 1, 1938, he trained as a doctor at Edinburgh University Medical School and practised at several Edinburgh hospitals before coming to Canada in 1969. He was proud of his Scottish heritage, serving as a member of the Board of the St. Andrews Society and hosting many popular Burns Suppers at his home. Al joined the Winnipeg Clinic as a specialist in Internal Medicine when he came to Canada in 1969 and was an active member of the Health Sciences Centre (RR4), the Concordia Hospital and the Misericordia Health Centre. At the Misericordia, he was Head of the Department of Medicine from 1996 to 1999 and received the Meritorious Service Award in 1999. He was also associated with the Northern Medical Unit for several years, delivering medical care to patients on reservations. He was an honest, knowledgeable and compassionate man who will be missed by colleagues and patients alike. An avid sportsman, Al spent his free time at Bird Lake, where friends will remember him wind-surfing, spear-fishing and water-skiing. Fit, healthy and full of energy, he loved to run, bike, ski and play squash. Al lived life to the full; he worked hard, played hard and loved his family and friends. Now cracks a noble heart. Good-night, sweet prince, And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest. (Shakespeare) Funeral service will be held Monday, August 21 at 11:00 a.m. at Westminster United Church, Maryland and Westminster. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
