FRANCESCO LOMONACO Peacefully on Wednesday, August 16, 2000 at Grace General Hospital, Francesco Lomonaco passed away at the age of 86 years. He was predeceased by his two sisters, Lucia and Rosa; and his two brothers, Vito and Donato. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 52 years, Antonietta. He will be sadly missed by his children, Rosa (Renzo), Pompea (Pietro) of Italy, Alfonso (Carmela) Lomonaco, Maria (Joe) Bruni, Gerardo (Debbie) Lomonaco, Brigida (Marcello) DOttavio. He was very much loved by all his grandchildren Lucia, Maria, Michele, Francesco of Italy; Lisa, Francesco, Felicia, Francesco, Jeremy, Jordan, Carly, Kristen and Marina. He will also be missed by his great-grandchildren and his many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and his many, many friends, especially all those at Sorrentos. Francesco Lomonaco was born in Muro Lucano, PZ, Italy on October 11, 1913. He grew up farming in Italy. Francesco worked in Germany and Switzerland for many years. At the age of 54, because he wanted a better life for all his children, he moved his family half way across the world to Winnipeg. When he first arrived in Canada, he worked his first and only job at Cara Operation (Airport), where he retired at the age of 65. After retirement he chose to help his children at Sorrentos on Ellice where he enjoyed to go everyday, including the day he died. Francesco Lomonaco was the kindest, gentlest, most spiritual soul around. He never had a harsh word or thought about anything. All who met him loved him immediately. We will all miss his twinkling hazel eyes and his ready smile. We love you. Prayers will be said on Friday, August 18 at 8:45 p.m. in the Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Ave. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 19 at 10:00 a.m., also in the church, with Rev. Fr. Sam Argenziano Presiding at the Eucharist. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of Eternal Memories Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be Francesco Lomonaco, Francesco Bruni, Robert Santos, Cam Lundgren, Cosimo Zifarelli, Franco Zifarelli, alternate Gerardo Lamorte.
