Born in 1924 in Ferryhill, County Durham, England, George and his wife Agnes immigrated to Winnipeg, Man., in 1953. George worked initially as a diesel machinist with the Canadian Pacific Railway, and later with Brooks Equipment and Cummins Mid-Canada. Following a 30-year career as a technician with Brooks Equipment and Cummins Mid-Canada, George retired with Agnes to British Columbia, residing initially in Nanaimo and later in Oliver. A devoted father and husband, George is survived by his wife Agnes (nee Featherstone) daughter Valerie Lynn Hall and son-in-law David Wall of Saskatoon; sisters, Catherine (Kitty) Hall and Irene Hall; brothers, Stephen (Dick) and John (Jack) Hall, all of Ferryhill, England. He was predeceased by sister Bella Riby of Scarborough, England. Dads love of adventure and his competitive nature served him well when, as a young man, he raced snowmobiles competitively for Brooks Equipment of Winnipeg. A Freemason in England, Dad joined St. Johns #4 Masonic Lodge in Winnipeg. Georges quick wit, keen intelligence and wealth of knowledge will be missed by his family and many friends. The family owes a debt of gratitude to Dr. J.R. John Dimma, Karen Fleming of Palliative Care, hospice volunteer Cheryl Andrews, and the many wonderful nurses and staff of the South Okanagan General Hospital who shared the burdens of his final journey. Private cremation will be held in accordance with Dads wishes. Donations may be made in Georges memory to the Palliative Care Unit of the South Okanagan General Hospital, 7139 - 362 Ave., Oliver, B.C., V0H 1T0.
