Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryOLGA SURGENOR (nee HOFFMAN) It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our Dear Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Aunt on Tuesday, August 15, 2000. Mom was born on September 19, 1923 in Camper, MB, where she grew up, and later worked in Winnipeg until she married Dad on February 6, 1946. Mom loved her garden and was a volunteer with numerous organizations, such as the Legion Auxiliary, United Church and the New Horizons, to name a few. Mom touched the hearts of many, and influenced the lives of everyone who came to know her. She especially loved to bake cookies for her grandchildren and feed her famous soup to the people of the Interlake. Mom will be sadly missed and remembered by her children, Marilyn, Elaine (George), Randy (Debbie), Karen (Jack), Cal (Cheryl), Dwight (Donna) and Jay (Dawn) and her grandchildren Lonny, Danielle, Trevor, Scott, Tara, Carly, Corrie Ann, Devon, Dayna, Meagan; and her birds Billie and Joey; and her special extended grandchildren Bryan, Rob and Lori Ritchie, David Lawson, Shameen Williamson, and Jella Dejager. She is also survived by her brother Ted Hoffman and sisters, Terry Highet, Lana Wilson and Bertha Campbell. She was predeceased by her loving husband Dave in 1992; son Ryan in 1947; her parents Gus and Martha, sister Victoria, and brothers Gus and Art. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 19 at 2:00 p.m. in the Eriksdale Recreational Centre with student Minister Melanie Kauppila officiating. Interment to follow in the Eriksdale Cemetery. Family viewing will be held on Friday, August 18 at the Arnason Funeral Home in Ashern. Viewing also at the hall prior to the service. Active pallbearers will be Brian Campbell, Alvin Goranson, John Guttormson, Bob Hoffman, Ron Appleyard and Bryan Ritchie. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Breckman, Richard Henry, Sid Miljure, Lorne Miljure, Larry Kauppila, Paul Kauppila and Terry Thiessen. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff at the Eriksdale Hospital and the staff on GH4 at the Health Science Centre, ambulance attendants and all the friends and family who were praying for her throughout her ordeal. We would also like to thank Wayne and Lorraine Sanford, Debbie Saunders, Mike Jeffers and grandson Scott, for their kind and quick response to Moms situation. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Sir Arthur Pearson Assoc./War Blinded Veterans, 320 McLeod St., Ottawa, ON K2P 1A3, or to one of Olgas favourite charities.
