Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySVEIN EYOLFUR EYOLFSON It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Svein Eyolfson of Gimli, on Tuesday, August 15, 2000, at the Johnson Memorial Hospital at the age of 84 years. He leaves surviving, his wife Loa; daughters, Gloria (Jack) Zacharias of Cranbrook, B.C., and grandchildren, Jeff (Nancy) Zacharias and great-grandchildren, Bryce and Perrin, Scott (Bridgette) Zacharias and great-grandson Jack; Carol (Bob) Thordarson of Gimli, granddaughters, Lori (Troy) Valgardson and great-grandchildren, Nolan and Erin, Linda (Tracy Barkley) and great-granddaughter Megan and Susan (Les Hanson) and great-granddaughters, Emma and Paige; and Jackie (Wayne) Ireland of Gimli and grandsons, Garrett and Cody; one son Ron (Dolores) of Fort Frances, Ont., and grandsons, Daryl (Colleen) and great-grandsons, Brett and Dustin, Todd (Joy) and great-grandson Tyler; three sisters, Thoranna (George) Kerr, Gudrun Sigurdson, Loreen (Ross) Ingroville; one brother Steve Eyolfson and sister-in-law Solla Eyolfson and numerous relatives and friends. He was predeceased by brothers, Steinni and Karl; parents Sveinn and Steinun and a great-granddaughter Samantha. Svein was born in Geysir, Man., on December 18, 1915, and lived his early years there, where he farmed and fished. He later moved to Gimli, where he was in the construction business. He built the Shoreliner Motel, which they operated for many years. Svein had been on the Gimli town council and was a member of the Gimli Kinsmen Club. He was an excellent curler and in his retirement years enjoyed making flower planters, tables, clocks, etc. from oak barrels. His grandchildren will be his honorary pallbearers. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 19, at 2:00 p.m. in the Gimli Lutheran Church, with Pastor George Johnson officiating. Interment to follow in the Geysir Cemetery. A special thank you to Dr. R. C. Patel and the staff at the Johnson Memorial Hospital, Gimli Homecare and Ken Fedorchuk.
