Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM (BILL) THOMSON It is with great sadness that the family of William Haining Murray Thomson (Bill) announce his passing on Sunday, August 13, 2000 in Lynn Lake, Man. Bill was born December 12, 1918 in Dumfreshire Scotland to James and Agnes Thomson. He came to Canada with his parents in 1920, settling in Morris, Man. He recieved his education in Morris and then joined the Cameron Highlanders in 1940. He served in Dieppe in August 1942. Bill was taken prisoner in Dieppe and was held prisoner until 1945. He spent most of his next few years in the army. Bill moved to Flin Flon where he met his wife Dorothy Gislason. They returned to Winnipeg and he rejoined the army and served in Korea. He remained in Morris until 1997. After the death of his wife Dorothy, he moved to Lynn Lake. Bill is survived by his daughter Terry-Lynn and husband Bob Pedigrew; son Clifford and three grandsons, Todd, Jeff and Dutchie. He is also survived by two brothers, Jim of Whitemouth, Man., Donald (Carole) of Kamarno, Man.; three sisters, Alexia Bertie of Winnipeg, Man., Mabel Jorgenson (Morris) of Orangeville, Ont. and Joyce Bobrowski of Winnipeg, Man.; one brother-in-law Len Jorgenson of Morris, Man. and one sister-in-law Pat of Calgary, Alta. Bill was predeceased by his wife Dorothy; parents, Jim and Agnes Thomson; one sister Sadie Jorgenson; one brother Murray Thomson, one brother-in-law and three sisters-in-laws. Bill has been cremated and his ashes will be laid to rest at Lynn Lake, Man. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in Bills memory may be made to the Manitoba Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB, R3C 2B7. Boardman-Northland Funeral Service, Thompson, Man. in care of arrangements.
