A glance behind at Determination, Strength, courage, sisu, Patience and labour of the Early Finlanders, is needed. For if we, their descendants, Rush ahead, The trails long ago blazed Will be burned. After a tremendous battle, Milga left to be with her God, with her loving family by her side, to say goodbye on Tuesday, August 15, 2000 at the Victoria General Hospital, at the age of 85 years. Milga was born June 26, 1915 in New Finland, Saskatchewan. She leaves to mourn her devoted husband of 33 years of marriage, Dennis Smith; daughter Delores Pahkala (John) son Richard Lake (Lorraine) and youngest daughter Dianna McInnes (Dan) one granddaughter Robin; grandsons, Vincent, Devin, Eric, Colin, Darren and Dylan; great-grandson Ryan and great-granddaughter Alana. They will sadly miss their "Granny". Also left behind are moms six sisters, Alma Denet, Betty Kymala, Anne Mattson, Mary Anderson, Wendy Henriksson and Mollie Trudgeon. Mom leaves a large number of nieces and nephews who have all kept in touch over her long life. Mother was predeceased by her parents; first husband Emil Lake; and by brothers, Archie, Alex, Oliver and Fred Nordlund. On Monday, August 21 at 10:00 a.m., Milgas Funeral Service will be held in the Lutheran Church of the Cross, 560 Arlington Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, with Pastor Ted Chell officiating. For those who wish, viewing will be held prior to Milgas service in the church. Our family wishes to thank Drs. Domke and Thorlakson as well as the wonderful nursing staff of the ICU at Victoria Hospital. They truly made Moms last fight a good one. Our deepest thanks. Milga helped and touched many people in her lifetime and will be fondly remembered. Her love was Mother Earth and her garden her comfort and joy.
