Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY HODGE (nee OSTAPCHUK) October 1, 1914 - August 17, 2000 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Mary Hodge on Thursday, August 17, 2000 at the Bonavista Personal Care Home in Lac du Bonnet, Man. Predeceased by her husband Dave; parents, brothers, Tony and Stan and a sister Kaye. Mary is survived by her children, Heather Wood (Charles), son Stanley (Sharon), son Bryant (Jackie) grandchildren, Bruce (Debbie), Robb, Brad (Adele), Jason (Nora), Laurie, Steven, Kristen, Sherry (Harvey), Lisa (Glen), as well as six great-grandchildren, Katrina, Marlee, Samantha, Charlie, Gage, Noelle and Ashlee. Also surviving are her sisters, Lena Whitney (Jim), Elsie Mitchell (Paul), Edna Skiba, Jean Orasch, Jessie Murga and sisters-in-law, Rose Ostapchuk and Lena Ostapchuk. Mary was born in Meleb, Man. on April 1, 1914. She attended school in the area and upon completion moved to Winnipeg where she was employed with the J.G. Glasgow family. It was through this employment and summers spent at Pointe du Bois that she met her husband Dave. They were married October 9, 1937 and resided at Pointe du Bois until retirement. Upon retirement they moved to a home they had built in Lac du Bonnet, which they enjoyed for many years. Mary enjoyed cooking and was always collecting new recipes to try. She loved to grow indoor plants, African Violets were her specialty and also spent many hours knitting, crocheting and sewing. Mom was a very kind and loving person. She lived for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as friends. She loved nature, the birds and especially her greatest love was her dog Rebel. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Bonavista Personal Care Home for the care and compassion shown to our mother during her four plus years there, it will not be forgotten. Cremation has taken place. A private family interment will follow at a later date. Memorial services will be held at the Bonavista Personal Care Home also at a later date. There is a bridge of golden memories From here to heaven above That will keep you very close to us Its called the bridge of love. Your memory is our keepsake With which we will never part God has you in His keeping, We have you in our heart.
