LAINE VICKERY On August 17, 2000 dawns first light, Laine left us after a prolonged struggle with lung disease. Free as last, in a better place. Laine was born March 22, 1925 to Karl and Anna Metslaid in Kravastu, Estonia. She was caught up in the turmoil of the Second World War, immigrating to Canada in 1948. Laine is survived by her beloved daughters, Zandra (Peter) Whitworth and Diana (Gerald -deceased) LHeureux; grandchildren, Michael (Julie) LHeureux, Elisa Wales, Tiffany and Tara LHeureux, Christopher Whitworth; five great-grandchildren; and her brothers, Heldur and family of Sweden, Volter and Heinar and families in Estonia. Laines last years were difficult, but with the help of her children and her special friends, Charlie LAmi and that rascal Ken Dodds (who always made her laugh), life at times was adventurous and fun. Dr. Haligowski became another friend and mentor as well as her personal physician. Her death was discussed openly and without fear. Thanks to God, her end was quick quiet and peaceful. Save for the last few days, she was able to maintain her home, with our help. You were loved Laine Vickery, in Christ there is no North or South, East or West, till we meet again. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 22 at Bardal Funeral Chapel, 843 Sherbrook St., with Rev. John Caird officiating. Interment Brookside Cemetery. BARDAL FUNERAL HOME 843 Sherbrook Street, 774-7474
