Irene was born on February 29, 1920 and resided in Fairford all her life. She married Wilfred on August 8, 1938. Together they shared 59 years of happiness raising their family and working side by side on their cattle ranch. Irene enjoyed being out in the hayfield or in her garden. Many hours were spent in her vegetable and flower gardens. It was for this reason she earned her pet name "my Ladybug", from her husband. She served as councillor for 18 years. During her time on council, Irene travelled by horse or by foot when she was needed and continued to help others throughout her life. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her sense of humour remained with her to the end. She loved to share laughs with her grandchildren and always knew how to brighten up their day.
