EDNA JEAN HOLLAND In loving memory of Edna Jean Holland who died at Middlechurch Home on August 16, 2000. Edna was predeceased by her parents, Christopher and Catherine Johnstone; by her beloved husband H. Clarence; and granddaughter Cathy in 1987; and by a brother Cecil in 1990. She is survived by her only son John David and his wife Diane and her much loved grandchildren, Richard (Karen), Robbie, Colleen (Shane) Draper, and by her four great-granddaughters. She is also survived by three sisters, Margaret Wilkinson of Winnipeg, Ray Gray of Bethesda, U.S.A. and Isobel Bonell of London, Ont. and by a brother Harold of Nanaimo, B.C., and their families. Edna was born in Little Britain, Man. on April 24, 1909. She taught school for several years, including Dugald where she has made her home since 1939. She was active in the United Church and in the community. She was a Charter Member of the Dugald Costume Review and the Dugald Costume Museum. Her contribution as commentator at over 500 fashion shows having been recognized by the province of Manitoba where she was inducted into the Order of the Buffalo. Edna was a keen historian. As a member of the Dugald Womens Institute she was actively involved in compiling the history of Springfield Municipality. In later years she wrote histories of the Dugald Womens Institute and the Dugald United Church, as well as histories of the Holland and Johnstone families. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Middlechurch Home, 280 Balderstone, West St. Paul on Monday, August 21 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Dawn Ballantine Dickson officiating. In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, gifts to a favourite charity would be appreciated. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
