Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELSIE WOWK Peacefully on August 17, 2000 Elsie Wowk passed away at Holy Family Nursing Home. She was predeceased by her husband Mickey (Emil) Wowk on September 24, 1998. Elsie was born in Winnipeg, MB on August 15th, 1917. She worked at Dyson Pickle Co. in her early years. Later she went on to work at Jack St. John Drug Store on Sargent Avenue and finally she worked for Mischa Pollocks Clothing Store on Selkirk Avenue. In her later years she was actively involved in volunteering at Seven Oaks Hospitals gift shop, doing Meals on Wheels with her husband Mickey, and she was also involved with the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 141 Ladies Auxilliary and the Senior Achievers Organization. Elsie was a wonderful kind soul who found much happiness in giving to others. You could always find her in her kitchen baking or preparing something special for family or friends. Although she didnt travel far, she really enjoyed her bus trips to Grand Forks with her husband Mickey. She was always bringing back something for everyone, but her greatest joy was her family, particularly her great nephews, Trevor and Ryan. Elsie will be lovingly remembered by her sister Jean Herny; nephew Ray Herny, wife Margaret, their two sons Trevor and Ryan; nephew Jack Herny and his partner Alana Dickinson; niece Maryanne Kostiuk and nephew Bill Kostiuk, and Elsie Clark who was as a niece to her. The family would like to express their appreciation for all the wonderful care given to Elsie during her stay at Holy Family Nursing Home. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Monday, August 21, at 3:30 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, with Rev. Fr. Isidore Dziadyk, O.S.B.M. officiating. Reception to follow in the Cropo Rose Room. Flowers gratefully declined. Should friends so desire donations may be made to the Alzheimers Society, Unit 10, 120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB. R3C 4G2.
