ROSE HUSIAK (Nee LUTY) After blessing us with her love and affection, on August 18, 2000 our Baba passed away at home surrounded by her family. A hard working person and never one to complain, Mom (Baba) will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her husband of 62 years Harry; daughter Aileen; son Jim and wife Diane and her grandchildren whom she adored, Vincent (and wife Jana), Cynthia and Jennifer; also by her siblings, Lucy Tymchyshyn, Helen Flatt, Mary Lyons, Andrew and Con, as well as many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her mother Frances (nee Schmidt) in 1980; father Nicholas in 1982; brother Julius in 1969 and brother Jerry in 1983. Mom was born on May 5, 1917 in Zbaraz, Manitoba and married on June 4, 1938. She and Dad farmed full time in Poplarfield, Manitoba until 1975, thereafter moving to Winnipeg. She was politically knowledgeable and a very active member in the Labour Movement, starting with the CCF Party and continuing with the New Democratic Party. She was born into a musical family, and as a young girl played the violin at various functions. This interest continued in the form of choirs, when she conducted the Poplarfield Ladies Choir and later became a dedicated member of the Lesya Ukrainka Choir. After retirement, Mom and Dad traveled extensively throughout the world. Twice to Poland and the Ukraine to acquaint themselves with family, and to Argentina when she learned of a cousin who had immigrated there. In later years, Cuba became a favourite getaway. She and Dad enjoyed the activities of the Dufferin, Selkirk, and the Labour Temple Senior Clubs. Saturday afternoons at 141 Legion were also an attraction. Although Mom had a great love for gardening and flowers, and could make the sickest of plants healthy again, she has graciously declined flowers and has requested donations be made to the Manitoba Branch of the Kidney Foundation, 200-55 Donald St. Wpg R3C 1L8. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, August 23 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. A private family interment will take place after the reception. The family expresses their gratitude to Dr. P. Kuegle, the VON nurses and the homecare attendants for their compassionate care. Working Hands Hands, Hands, Hands; when and where will you rest. Hands, Hands, Hands; on my masters chest. Hands, Hands, Hands; we kissed them as we said goodbye. Forgive us if we did not do our best. Love Harry We ask that you remember this woman as a fiesty, caring, unselfish and devoted Wife, Mother and Baba, who wasnt ever bashful to exact a Luty criticism when necessary. There is no way we can fill the emptiness she has left behind. Baba, we will always miss and love you. VICHNAYA PAMYAT Cropo Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements, 586-8044
