Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNICHOLAS (NICK) ROMAN It is with great sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather at age 70, after a courageous battle with cancer on Monday, August 21, 2000 at Selkirk General Hospital. Nick was born March 15, 1930 on the family homestead at Stead, MB and is survived by his loving wife Mary; sons, Gordon (Bev) of Kansas, Gary of Winnipeg, and daughter Susan of Vancouver; grandchildren, Kari of Winnipeg, Johnathan Nicholas of Kansas; also sister-in-law Stella, Uncle Mike and Aunt Leona Lesko, Aunt Mary Lesko; and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Katie; brothers, Steve, Paul and Mike; sisters, Teenie Smolarski and Annie Mazur. Nick farmed at Stead all his life where he spent many happy hours tending his garden and beautiful flowers. He was a councillor for many years for the L.G.D. of Alexander, enjoying the challenges and people he met. In his retirement years, he spent his time between his farm at Stead and his home in Selkirk. Funeral services will be held at Gilbarts Funeral Chapel, Selkirk, Thursday, August 24 at 10:30 a.m. with viewing at 9:30. Fr. H. Oliynek officiating. Interment at East Selkirk Cemetery. His nephews will be his pallbearers. If friends so desire, donations may be made in his memory to the Manitoba Cancer Society, 100 Olivia St., Winnipeg.
