VIOLET ROSE BAUER Peacefully, on August 21, 2000, Violet Rose Bauer, formerly Violet Wakeman, born Violet Haacke on November 9, 1910, passed away at the Deer Lodge Centre at the age of 89 years. Violet was predeceased by her parents, William Henry Haacke and Ellen Haacke; her husband Murray Arnold Wakeman in 1966; her husband John Bauer in 1999; her eldest son Harold Wakeman; brothers, Art, Ben and bill and by her sisters, Daisy and Pansy. Mom lived life with an undaunted, positive attitude. When there was no money, which was all of the time that she was raising her children, we never did without. She sewed our clothes, grew our food and still found time to add beauty to our lives with her wonderful flower gardens. Special occasions were made magical with her fanciful decorating and baking as she always managed to create something out of nothing. Whenever there was extra vegetables and outgrown clothes she made sure to give them to those even less fortunate than herself. She taught us to share, care about others and to add beauty and happiness to life whenever you can, no matter what life hands you! Even in her last hours, Mom continued to accept life and death graciously as she always did ... with her warm and understanding smiles! "Forever smiling through good times and bad. Well miss your smile, Mom, but remember it always!" Left to grieve her passing are her sons, Robert Wakeman and wife Beatrice, Dan Wakeman and Gerald Wakeman and wife Cheryl; daughter June Enns and husband Gary; grandchildren, Julia, Linda and Murray Wakeman, Blair and Greg Wakeman, Carolyn (Wakeman) Hayduk, Timothy, Allan and Michael Wakeman, Leigh and Marcus Enns and Lisa (Enns) Martin as well as many extended family and friends. Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 24 at Kerrs Funeral Chapel, 120 Adelaide Street, with Rev. Gordon Fulford officiating. Interment will follow in Brookside Cemetery. Viewing will take place one half hour prior to the service. Kerrs Funeral Chapel is in care of arrangements; phone 943-6688.
