FLOYD WILFRED KELLER Peacefully on Tuesday, August 22, 2000, Floyd passed away at his residence in Winnipeg. He will be forever loved and missed by his wife and best friend Sally. He is survived by his wife Sally and his beloved BoBo, brother LaVerne (Joyce), sister-in-law Nina Wakshinski (Clare) and three brother-in-laws Michael, Walter and Arthur Parson and their respective wives Joyce and Sandy Parson. Also by nephews Jim (Patty), Tom (Joan)and Greg Parson, Grant Parson (Janie) and Dean Wakshinski (Sherri) and nieces Wendy Wakshinski, Sandy Parson-Vis (Doug) and Kim Parfumo (Wayne). He is also survived by many grand-nieces and grand-nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Raymond in 1969 and Maude in 1923. Floyd was well liked and respected by all who knew him, with a gentle humour and the gift of friendship for all. He was born at Davidson, Saskatchewan on August 19, 1918 and at an early age moved to Winnipeg where he met and married his wife Sally in 1939. He attended Daniel McIntyre Collegiate and Wesley College. His initial job was in the insurance industry where he made steady progress and at retirement was the general manager of a large general insurance company. After retirement he worked part time for the provincial government in the capacity of rentalsman. He was a founding director of the Manitoba Public Insurance Corp, and had been a director of the Sun Valley Co-Op Ltd. and also served as Vice President and Secretary Treasurer of the Manitoba Social Credit Party in the later fifties. He was very much involved in the sporting fraternity. He was an amateur boxer for several years and fought in the 1938 Canadian Championship Competition. He was a very popular baseball pitcher having played 14 seasons in the Winnipeg Senior Baseball League. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 26 at 11:00 a.m. in Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway. Interment in Garry Memorial Park Cemetery will follow reception. He was a devoted supporter of the Humane Society and if friends so desire, donations in his memory may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent Road, Winnipeg, R2L 1X3.
