MARIA MIGUEL NUNES CAETANO On Tuesday, August 22, 2000, after a courageous battle with cancer, Maria found eternal peace, with her family and dearly beloved friends at her side, at the age of 63 years. Left to cherish Marias memory are her husband with whom she shared 45 joyful years of marriage, Mario Caetano; her four children, Arminda (husband Manuel Domingos), Isabel (husband Salvador Barbosa), Jose (wife Diane Laurencelle) and Sandra; six grandchildren, Sonya (boyfriend Paulo Raulino), Stefanie, Nelson, Rui, Daniel and Mathew. She also leaves behind several brothers, sisters, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and especially her beloved mother-in-law Arminda Caetano in Portugal. Maria was predeceased by her parents Maria and Martinho Nunes, her brother Joaquim Nunes, her sister Alzira Matos and her father-in-law Augusto Caetano. Maria was born August 19, 1937, in Serta, Portugal. She immigrated to Canada in 1975, settling in Winnipeg, Man. Marias devotion to her family was endless. Everyone who knew her would agree that she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, always sharing her wisdom. She loved seeing everyone together. We loved hearing her laugh and sing us songs of love and joy, songs that will always be remembered. We are comforted to know that she has received Gods eternal gift and for that we are thankful. The family would like to give special thanks to all those who gave their time and assistance to Maria during her illness, especially Dr. Daniek and the Palliative Care medical staff at the St. Boniface Hospital who have shown so much dedication and compassion. Thanks to the ones closest to her, you know who you are. We love you deeply and will never forget all that you have done. Prayer service will be held at the Immaculate Conception Church, 181 Austin St., on Friday, August 25, at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Jose Cabral, also at the church, the following morning, Saturday, August 26, at 9:00 a.m. Interment will take place in Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave., following the mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit. LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements. 775-2220.
