Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALMA MATHILDA OLSON (nee JOHNSON) On August 22, 2000 after blessing us with her unconditional love and affection, our wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away with her loved ones by her side. Predeceased by her parents, Ole and Clara Johnson; siblings, Clarence, Myrtle and Ora; grandchildren, Mitchell Olson, Randy and Teri Aitken and precious great-granddaughter Stephanie Caron as well as beloved son-in-law Norman Young. Mom will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by Oscar her loving husband of 65 years and her six children, Shirley (Frank) Aitken, Cliff (Verla) Olson, Curtis (Gloria) Olson, Aurlie Young, Marlys (Ron) Pearse, Sherri (Jerry) Loewen. Fifteen grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren were blessed to have Grandma in their lives. Alma is also survived by her beloved brother Obert Johnson as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Her love and concern for family and friends will be cherished in our hearts forever. Alma Mathilda Johnson was born in Starbuck on April 8, 1918. She met her husband Oscar; they married in 1935 and raised their six children in the Starbuck area. Mom was very involved in her church and community. Mom found great strength in her strong faith and belief in the life there after. Mom and Dad travelled to Norway twice and kept the family traditions alive by passing them on to their children. In later years, Mom and Dad moved to Berkley Street in Charleswood. At the time of Moms passing they were residents of West Park Manor Personal Care Home. We have very special memories of our Grandma, wildflowers, apple butter, chocolate Christmas decorations, driving lessons and the sense of warmth and security that enveloped us when in her company. She instilled in us a real sense of family. Mom was a true friend and never said a bad word about anyone. Mom taught us patience and forgiveness, Moms deep and abiding faith set an example for us all. Well miss you... Pallbearers will include Grandmas grandsons Rob and Dan Olson, Richard Pearse and great-grandson, Jared Maes. We the family would like to thank the staff at West Park Manor Personal Care Home for making her last days as comfortable as possible, as well as for their past and ongoing care and kindness shown to our family. Viewing to be held on Friday, August 25 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Funeral Home, 984 Portage Ave. at Aubrey Street (204) 949-2200. Moms funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 26 at 10:00 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church at Starbuck. Internment will take place in the Starbuck Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Moms memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice. Mother God took the fragrance of a flower The majesty of a tree The gentleness of morning dew The calm of a quiet sea The beauty of the twilight hour The soul of a starry night The laughter of the rippling brook The grace of a bird in flight The tender care of an angel The faith of the mustard seed The patience of eternity The depth of a familys need. Then God fashioned from these things A creation like no other, And when his masterpiece was through He called it simply - MOTHER. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
