KATHLEEN MOTS (nee RIORDAN) It is with sadness that the family of Kathleen Mots announce the passing of their mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother on August 23, 2000 at the CPL - Poseidon Care Centre, in her 101st year. Born in Woking, England on April 27, 1900, she came to Canada in 1907, settling in Winnipeg with her family. After the First World War, she volunteered at the Tuxedo Veterans Hospital assisting returning vets. She was very proud of this and spoke of it often. She married Edward Mots in 1921 and had eight children. She was predeceased by her husband Edward Mots in 1991, two sons and two daughters, one grandson, two great-grandsons and one great-great-granddaughter. She is survived by a large and extensive family: daughters, Lillian Hanson and family of Calgary, Alta., Kay Laurie and family of Winnipeg, Betty (Jim) Murray and family of Roseburg, Ore., and son Raymond (Bernice) Mots and family of Kansas City, Mo. Mum enjoyed telling everyone about her large family of whom she was very proud, which included her 18 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great-grandchildren spread over Canada, U.S.A. and Australia. In recent times she was visited by two great-grandchildren from Australia who travelled to meet their great-grandmother for the first time. In her latter years Kathleens birthday became a time for family reunions and celebration. Viewing will be held on Sunday, August 27 from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 28 at 2:00 p.m. in the Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway. Pallbearers will be grandson Robert (Bob) Mots; great-grandsons, Robert, Edward, Darren and Kevin Laurie and Joey LaRocque. Mum had resided at the Central Park Lodge-Poseidon Care Centre for the past two and one-half years. Heartfelt thanks to all at CPL, especially to the 4th floor nurses and health care workers who really do CARE, for their dedication and consideration. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
