Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLORNE McDERMID Lorne (Boomer) McDermid, born November 3, 1928 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away peacefully August 19, 2000 at home with his loving family at his side. His memory will be cherished by his loving wife Geri of 49 years, his two daughters, Denise (Rick) Deneault and Gail (Jim) Cooke; his four grandchildren Nicole, Bradley, Alyssa and Cody; his brother Alex (Val) of St. Laurent, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Howard and Anne; his sister and brother-in-law Leona and Herb Albertson; mother and father-in-law Leonard and Rose Greffard; brothers-in-law Dennis, Armand, Arnie and John; sister-in-law Shirley and niece Barbara. He started out with his father delivering by horse drawn bread wagon for Westons. He delivered telegrams on his bicycle during the Second World War; he then worked on the railway taking care of veterans returning home. He then headed west to Vancouver Island where he worked in logging camps, in 1950 working for BC Forest Products and in 1960 working for Evans Forest Products in Aberdeen, Washington, moving then to Kamloops in 1970 where he worked for Balco Industries/Tolko as Superintendent for the veneer and plywood plants, becoming Manager until his retirement in 1988. Enjoying his hobby farm, neighbours, family, animals and his constant companion, his dog Rex. Boomer was a kind and humble man who will be missed by all who knew him. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2000 at 10:30 a.m. from the Schoening Funeral Chapel. If friends so desire, donations may be made to Kamloops Hospice Association, 311 Columbia Street, Kamloops, B.C., V2C 2T1, in memory of Lorne McDermid.
