ALMA PRUDEN (nee STIRLING) It is with great sadness her family announces the passing of Alma Isabel Mary Pruden, beloved wife of Lorne Pruden, on Friday, August 25 at Concordia Hospital. Alma is survived by her husband Lorne; and her children David (Michelle) and Nancy (Ian) and her dearly loved grandchildren Crystal, Cydney, Arden and Chad. Also surviving are her two sisters Barbara Schulz and Sheila Parker; and sister-in-law Lola Stirling of Grandview, MB; brother and sister-in-law Gordon and Eileen Pruden of Winnipeg; as well as many nieces and nephews. Alma was predeceased by her parents; and her brothers George, Thomas, William, Dewar Stirling; her brother-in-law Lyle Parker; and sister-in-law Margery Stirling. Alma was born in Grandview, MB, oldest daughter of James and Jeanie Stirling. She received her education in Grandview and spent her early years on the family farm. In 1943, Alma joined the Canadian Womens Army Corps and served her country for three years. Following this period, Alma joined the firm of D. Ackland and Son, later Acklands Ltd., where she worked for many years and formed many great friendships. On October 4, 1949, Alma and Lorne were married in Grandview, MB, and last October celebrated fifty great years of marriage at a reception in Winnipeg. Alma was a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother and homemaker. She took immense pride in her home and family. A strong woman who didnt back down from adversity, she endured lifes challenges and always came out on top. A memorial service will be held at Immanuel United Church, 755 Golspie St. at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 29. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Manitoba Branch, 200-55 Donald Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 1L8 or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 301-352 Donald Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3B 2H8.
