DENNIS NIMCHUK Peacefully, in the early afternoon of August 24, 2000, Dennis Nimchuk, beloved husband of Pauline Nimchuk, passed away at the Concordia Hospital at age 80 years. Dennis leaves to cherish his memory his wife Pauline; two sons, Curtis (Jacquie) and Kevin (Bonnie) grandchildren, Joshua, Zachary and Rebecca. He also leaves to mourn his two brothers, Micheal of Burlington, Ont. and Henry (Ann) three sisters, Lil Coulter, Ollie (Wilfred) Last and Fran (Bill) Dutka all of Winnipeg; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Dennis was born in Hazelridge, Man. to Mary and Roman Nimchuk on January 31, 1920. In May 1947, Dennis married Ethel Belluk. Following her passing, he remarried Pauline Zekovich in October 1971. Pauline brought to the family two daughters, Maxine (Rick) Ewasko and children, Donald, Susan, Lisa and Doreen (Don) Russell. Together, Dennis and Pauline farmed in Hazelridge for 14 years before moving to their present residence in Transcona. Dennis had many accomplishments throughout his life. He was a Councillor for the Municipality of Springfield for six years. He helped to build the Hazelridge Hall. He was an Elder at St. Peter and Paul Church in Tyndall, Man. as well as All Saints Orthodox Church in Transcona. Dennis was also a member of the Farmers Union and an adjuster for Manitoba Crop Insurance. Prayers will be held Monday evening August 28 at 7:00 p.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St. Funeral Liturgy to follow on Tuesday, August 29 at 10:00 a.m. at All Saints Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 1500 Day St. with Father Bill Wasyliw officiating. Burial at St. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Tyndall, Man. Flowers gratefully declined. If friends so wish, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
