Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDITH LECKIE On Saturday, August 26, 2000 at Riverview Health Centre, Edith Leckie died surrounded by her loving family. She was in her 96th year. Edith was predeceased by her husband George in 1989 after 62 years of marriage: and she was the last remaining member of the family of William and Catherine Sanderson, of Minnedosa, Manitoba. Edith was born in Clanwilliam, Manitoba on December 9, 1904. Her early education was obtained from Minnedosa Collegiate, and then she graduated as a Registered Nurse from Winnipeg General Hospital in 1926. She married Dr. George Leckie in 1927 and moved to Lucky Lake, Saskatchewan. In 1949 they moved to Saskatoon. Edith was active in the United Church in Lucky Lake as a Teacher, Superintendent of the Sunday School and Choir Leader, and with the UCW at Grace Westminster United Church, Saskatoon. Upon moving to Winnipeg in 1989, she became a member of Sturgeon Creek United Church. She enjoyed her many summers at Clear Lake with relatives and friends. She leaves her beloved family, Dr. Barrie (Donalda), Kenora; Bruce (Joy), Winnipeg; Newton, Calgary; her grandchildren, Brenda, Nancy, Barbara, Lynne, Ross, Scott, Lorie, James, David; and her 17 great-grandchildren. Edith was proud of her three sons and grandchildren. She loved her garden and flowers. She was a gracious, noble lady! The family wishes to express their thanks to all the staff at Riverview Health Centre, CD4 for their compassionate care and kindness. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, August 30 at 11:00 a.m. in Neil Bardal, Inc. 984 Portage Avenue, entrance of Aubrey Street, with Rev. Deborah Schweyer officiating.
