DOUGLAS EDWARD LAW Peacefully, on Saturday, August 26, 2000 with his wife of 43 years at his side, Douglas Edward Law passed away at the age of 68 at the Health Science Centre. Born in Winnipeg, June 15, 1932 to Annie and Ted Law, Doug spent his school years at Brooklands School and St. Johns High School. His working years included London Records, the Winnipeg Tribune and Air Canada Finance where he retired after 32 years, 7 months. Doug, with his wife Pat, enjoyed many good years in activities with friends. Early years were spent with the Winnipeg Sports Car Club. They then fell in love with the Samoyd dog breed. They formed the Samoyd Association of Manitoba Inc., starting their Samola Kennels and then becoming very active in breeding and showing dogs. Doug was also involved with dog clubs in the Winnipeg area. He was a life member of the Canadian Kennel Club. Doug was very involved with the administrative side serving as Manitoba Director of the C.K.C. for 7 years, Dog Show Representative for 14 years and was involved with C.K.C. Standards Committee for six years. Doug was twice chosen as Honourary Vice President of the Canadian Kennel Club. Doug and Pat were very active holding handling classes for dogs and spent six years working with the Manitoba Junior Kennel Club. Doug enjoyed his roll as Chief Ring Steward at dog shows in the last few years. He was also a long time member of the Western Canadian Aviation Museum, Samoyd Club of America and VW Club of America. Many thanks for the compassion and care he received while at the Health Science Centre, especially the nurses in ERCP and GH3. A celebration of Dougs life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, August 31 at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, 256 Smith Street, officiated by Reverend Robin Mather. Interment at Chapel Lawn Cemetery. Honourary Pallbearers will be Frank and Vic Mancini, Peter Maciejkow and George Taylor. Active Pallbearers will be Terry Williams, Brian Hunter, Clarke Peterman, Brent Thomas, George Chapman, Q.C., and Glenn Ellingsberg. Bell ringer will be Master Rhys Williams. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 1X3. "He lived his life for those he loved, and those he loved will remember."
