FRANCIS BENOIT It is with sadness that the family of Francis Benoit announce his death on Saturday, August 26, 2000 at the Ste. Anne Hospital at the age of 78. Francis is survived by his loving wife Marion and two sons, John of Vancouver, B.C. and Gary and wife Tanya of Winnipeg, and his precious granddaughter Crystal. He is also survived by one brother Edward and wife Betty; three sisters, Alice Belanger of Selkirk, Man., Irene and Lorne Ross of California, U.S.A., Jean Joyce of Kamloops, B.C., and special step sister Rolande Demers of Ste. Anne, as well as several nieces, nephews and friends. Francis was born in Ste. Anne, Man., son of the late John and Rose Benoit. Farming was his main occupation. In later years, he followed in his fathers footsteps and became Reeve of the Rural Municipality of Ste. Anne, a position he held for 11 years. During his later years, illness curtailed many of his activities but he never lost interest in politics and current affairs. The family wish to sincerely thank the nursing staff at the Ste. Anne Hospital for their excellent care. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Ste. Anne Roman Catholic Church, Ste. Anne, Man. on Wednesday, August 30 at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Fr. R. McDougall presiding. Viewing will commence 45 minutes prior to the service. Pallbearers will be his nieces and nephews. Cremation will follow the service, and interment to take place at a later date in Green Acres Memorial Gardens. Flowers are gratefully declined.
