IRWIN EMIL WILLIAMS With much sorrow, we announce the passing of our husband, father, and grandfather at home on August 24, 2000. Irv was 73. Born to Emma and Emil Wilhelm on August 13, 1927, in Lampman, SK, Irwin received his education in Lampman and at Toronto Radio College. Irv farmed for one year before radio college and was later employed by the Federal Government in the Department of Communications. Irwin met his wife Dolores through close friends. During their first date, he locked his keys in the car while they attended the stock car races. Mom decided then and there this guy needed taking care of and was by his side until the end. Throughout Irvs life he cared for his family, his friends, his community and his work with dedication and commitment. Irv was predeceased by his parents; sister Tala Lausch; brothers, Ab, Ernie, and Johnny Wilhelm. Left to mourn him are wife Dolores Williams; children, Neil (Kim) Williams of Halifax, Ian (Judy) Williams of Los Angeles, Lynne (Kent) Church of Winnipeg; sisters, Doris (Jim) Serne of Saskatoon and Erna Greenfield of Brantford; brother Butch (Grace) Williams of Saskatoon; and sisters-in-law, Hilda and Anne Wilhelm of Lampman. Irv was particularly proud of his five grandchildren, Katherine and Mairi of Halifax, Leanne and Lindsay of Los Angeles, and Sam of Winnipeg. Irvs passion for hockey and puttering won him lifelong friends and a deep satisfaction for creating warm, welcoming places to visit, have a drink, a laugh and some popcorn. His favourite haunts included his home, his gardens, his ham shack, his cottage and most recently his oasis in Oakwood. During his valiant battle with cancer, Irv had many wonderful helping hands supporting and caring for him. The family thanks them all. At Irvs request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, August 29, 11:00 a.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 401 Kildare Ave., West with interment to follow.
