Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARETHA de JONGE (nee LEMSTRA) It is with deep sadness, after a lengthy battle with cancer, that the family announces the passing of their beloved mother and oma on Friday, August 25, 2000 at the Victoria General Hospital at the age of 81. She was predeceased by her sisters, Martha and Leny, and her beloved husband John. Left to cherish her memory is her son Bryan; daughters, Hilda, Pearl and Carla; grandchildren, Bryce and Darcee and son-in-law Jake. She will also be sorely missed by many relatives and friends in the Netherlands and in Canada. She was born in Groningen, The Netherlands on January 6, 1919, the eldest of nine children. After surviving the Second World War, she married her beloved husband John, then emigrated to Canada in 1951. After many struggles and difficulties, they established a home for their family. She devoted many years to raising her family and at the age of 47 took a job at Talbot Pharmacy, where she worked for 14 years. Her life revolved around her family. She also enjoyed dancing and bowling but her true passion was oil painting. She created over 100 breathtaking pieces of art, one of which she gratefully donated to the Oncology Department at the Victoria General Hospital. The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to Dr. Ian Maxwell and his wonderful staff for their dedication and extra ordinary care. We also wish to express our sincere thanks to the staff of Ward 5 for most recently tenderly caring for our mother during her final days. Our family celebrates her life and along with you, we forever will cherish the memories. We are also at peace knowing our precious Mom and Dad are together again forever. Flowers are gratefully declined. If so desired, donations may be made in Margarets memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 29 in the chapel at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. with viewing one half hour prior to service time. Interment in the Garden of Everlasting Life at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the Glen Eden Reception Centre. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN EDEN FUNERAL HOME 4477 MAIN STREET 338-7111
