Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRICHARD JAMES ALEXANDER "JIM" PATERSON On August 24, 2000 after suffering a stroke, Jim passed away at the St. Boniface General Hospital at the age of 65 years. He was predeceased by his wife May of 42 years on February 26, 2000 and by his parents, Alex and Laura Paterson. Jim will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Cindy Jones (Tim) of Winnipeg; son Michael of Victoria, B.C.; sisters, Beth Hannesson (Tom) of Winnipeg and Chris Gregg of Brandon, Man. He will also be sadly missed by his two grandchildren, Scott and Matthew Jones of Winnipeg. Jim was born in Brandon, Man. on February 16, 1935 and moved to Winnipeg in 1950. He attended Tec Voc High School prior to joining the Manitoba Power Commission, which later became Manitoba Hydro. Jim retired from Manitoba Hydro in 1990 after 37 years of exemplary service. Always active in sports, Jim officiated minor hockey through the 1960s and 1970s and at one time was referee in chief for Winnipeg Minor. He also worked part time for Winnipeg Enterprises Corporation in the 1970s and 1980s as a parking attendant and later Supervisor of Parking. Following his retirement in 1990, Jim and May spent several winters at the Southern Comfort RV Resort in Weslaco, Texas, where he perfected his golf game. In accordance with Jims wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service. If friends so desire, a contribution in Jims memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 301 - 352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3B 2H8.
