HELEN KING Peacefully on August 28, 2000 at the Riverview Health Centre, Helen King passed away at the age of 71 years. Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband of 46 years, Harry; and her children, Cliff (Betty Ann), Debbie (Frank), Cindy (Miles), and Lori (Diane). She was a loving grandmother to Scott, Kelsey, Steven, Christopher, Lindsey, Cody, Kyle and April. Helen is also survived by sisters, Lori, Agnes, Heather; and her brother Bob; and their spouses; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. Helen was born on December 7, 1928 at Winnipeg, MB, to Caroline and Philip Miller. She attended Grandin School and worked at Dominion Envelope and Continental Can until her marriage to Harry on January 30, 1954. She helped Harry with their large garden and ran a sandwich stand on Southwood Golf Course while raising her growing family on Snow Street. In 1965 the family moved onto Waterford Avenue in North Fort Garry. She later worked at Canadian Tire on Notre Dame and Isabel for a number of years until her retirement. Helen bowled for many years in the Fort Rouge Centennial Bowling League (Garry Bowl) of which she proudly served as President for a time. She could always be found Sunday nights at the Eagles Club playing Bingo until her illness forced her away. One of Helens greatest joys was having the whole family over for one of her huge Christmas, Thanksgiving, or Easter dinners, followed by cards or other games. No one went away hungry. She was always supportive of her kids and Helen loved to be with her grandchildren. They were her pride and joy. The family would like to acknowledge the many people who visited, called, sent flowers or cards since Helens cancer was diagnosed in April this year. Funeral service will be held Friday September 1 at 10:00 a.m. at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., with visitation one half-hour prior. Interment and reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, should friends so desire, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
