NICHOLAS KULACHOK After a courageous struggle with cancer, Mr. Nicholas Kulachok passed away at Riverview Health Care Centre on August 28, 2000. He faced death in the same manner he faced any challenge - with a measured, steady stride and a kind word and a smile for all those who helped him with his task. He will be sadly missed by his wife Pauline, daughter Joy Bower of Winnipeg, daughter Joanne Kulachok and son-in-law Frank Zanka of San Clemente, CA; three sisters, Claudia Poleschuk of Thunder Bay, ON, Anne Kolody and Irene Cook of Winnipeg; sister-in-law Pauline Kulachok; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. We will all miss his love. Nick was born in Drozdnie-Wolinskuia Oblast, Ukraine June 14, 1925 and immigrated to Canada in 1939. His early years in Canada were spent on a farm in Sifton, MB. He met his wife Pauline Haley at the Normandie Dance Hall. He and Pauline married August 31, 1947 and they enjoyed 53 years together. Nick was employed at Motor Coach Industries for 47 years, retiring in 1990. His most joyous times were spent at his cottage at Grand Beach where he loved to spend time with his family. He enjoyed many pursuits in the outdoors and was renowned for his knowledge in picking only edible wild mushrooms and finding the best blueberry patches. Nick was predeceased by his father Peter in 1971, his mother Mary in 1983, brother Alex in 1981, sister Nellie Treytiak in 1993, and son-in-law Bruce Bower in June, 2000. Wed like to thank everyone who helped Dad through his struggle with cancer - from doctors to friends. Special thanks to Dr. L.K. Cheung, Dr. John Karavalas, Dr. Paul Daeninck, Dr. Orla Klassen, Dr. Jan Mulder and Dr. Garcia, the 5th floor nurses at Seven Oaks Hospital and 3rd Floor Palliative Care nurses at Riverview.
