MYKOLA (NICK) LESKIW It is with much sorrow and great sadness that the family announces the passing of Mykola (Nick) Leskiw at the age of 75, who passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2000. Nick was born in Litatyn, Ukraine on March 1, 1925. He immigrated to Canada in 1951. He worked various farm and construction jobs over the years. His latest employment was with the University of Manitoba at the Health Sciences Centre as a custodian until his retirement in 1988. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Jean of 40 years; one sister Zofiya Leskiw of Ternopil, Ukraine; sister and brothers-in-law, Mary Samos of Penticton, BC, Kathleen Russell of Winnipeg, Caroline (Morris) Wozlowski of Prince Rupert, BC, Helen Turcan of Malonton, Joe Kostiuk of Malonton, Stanley (Judy) Kostiuk of Gimli, Ruth Kostiuk of Gimli, Ollie Kostiuk of Winnipeg; numerous nieces and nephews in Canada and the Ukraine. Pallbearers, Joe Turcan, Robert Turcan, Eugene Zubriski, Chris Kostiuk, Frank Kostiuk, and Walter Skazyk. Prayers will be said Thursday, August 31 at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church, 40 Ada St., Winnipeg. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated Friday, September 1 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church in Komarno, MB. Rev. Fr. Mark Gnutel officiating, assisted by Rev. Deacon Walter Knysh. Burial to follow at St. Mary the Protectress Cemetery in Malonton. As expressions of sympathy, donations in his memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
