JEAN (EUGENIA) MELNYK The family of Jean Melnyk sadly announces her passing on Tuesday, August 22, 2000. Jean was born on November 5, 1909 in Winnipeg, the first child of Amilia and William Szafronowicz. Jean married Anthony Melnyk on June 21, 1933 and they were partners for 65 years. They were strong, resourceful, caring people who carved a path for their own family, and extended family members, through tremendous hardships and adversity. She was gifted with great energy, warmth, strength of character, and a wonderful sense of humour. She loved her family, learning, music and nature. She loved life. Jean was preceded in death by her husband Anthony in September of 1998; and her son Edward in February of 1999; by her sister Mina; her twin brothers, John and William; and by her parents. She leaves to grieve her passing her daughter June Audette; daughter-in-law Elizabeth Melnyk; brother Michael (Dorothy) grandchildren, Gerald, Jonathan (Kristin) and Evan (Karen) Audette, Lisa, Larry (Tammy), Tim and Christopher Melnyk; great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Lauren, Nathan and Peter. Jean also leaves to mourn her nieces, Lisa Joy (David) Ferries, Stephanie (Hilton) Friesen and nephew William Melnyk. Many thanks to the staff of Holy Family Nursing Home for their loving care of our mother and grandmother. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, September 2 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Timothys Roman Catholic Church, 135 John Forsyth Rd., with Fr. Gerry Ward officiating.
